To children, the judicial system is big and overwhelming. You can be the voice of a child, advocating on behalf of abused and neglected children in county juvenile court.
CASA volunteers get cases moving through the child welfare system and advocate strongly for that these children deserve a safe, permanent home. CASA volunteers get to know the children and families, attend court hearings, interact with attorneys, social workers and teachers, review records and write reports directly to the judge making recommendations as to what is in the child’s best interests.
Prior to volunteering, you will undergo a certified training course and will be appointed by a local judge.

Do I need any specific experience to become a CASA Volunteer?
How long will my case last?
Our average case length in Keith County is approximately 15-22 months. It’s important that a CASA Volunteer is appointed for the length of a child’s case, to be a stable, consistent adult for that child during a critical time in their life. We ask that our volunteers commit to the role for the length of the case.
Would failing a background check disqualify me from volunteering?
We screen our volunteers continuously in order to ensure the safety of the children we serve, who are at high risk of revictimization due to the abuse and neglect they have experienced.
While we reserve the right to decline any prospective volunteer based on a background check result, not all history is an automatic no. We know that individuals with lived experience have a powerful voice to lend, and we encourage you to reach out to our team if you have any questions about the background screening process.
